Intelligent video analytics

Now you don't have to analyse video footage forever. The tedious task of analysing video footage can now be done for you by the built-in intelligence of surveillance cameras. You can easily set up virtual fences with alarm functions and set up flow calculations and have everything summarised for quick overview.

What can intelligent video analytics be used for?

In fact, the only limit to what it can be used for is your imagination. The most common is to use intelligent video analytics to count people's movements. This can be valuable if you want to keep track of the number of visitors to a shop or similar. It is also possible to set up virtual fences where the camera can trigger a PUSH alarm if someone passes, for example if you want to monitor a door or a certain part of the garden. There is also the possibility to create one-way passages to quickly find out if someone is going the wrong way. This can be used, for example, at one-way entrances to stop those trying to go the wrong way. How these features are used varies but it can be very useful for retail environments where visitor flows can be analysed through strategic camera placements.

How does it work?

Intelligent video analytics is based on special software in the camera or video storage device that constantly analyses what is happening in the image. Through smart algorithms, the camera can see what's happening in the image and record and process the information at lightning speed. Using intelligent video analytics is as simple as choosing which function to use and then intuitively drawing a line in the image which the camera then uses in its analysis.

Which products support intelligent video analytics?

Intelligent video analytics are supported by AVTECH's higher-end cameras and video storage devices. The supported IP cameras are from AVTECH's 5 and 8 series, which are also the sharpest cameras with other smart features. Even AVTECH's best video storage devices for both IP and TVI/HD CCTV (analogue) have the smart software built in. For the intelligent video analytics to work in an IP-based video storage device, it is required that both the camera and the device support it.
