Video storage - NVR
NVR is an abbreviation for "Network Video Recorder" and means it is a video storage device designed for IP cameras (network cameras). All devices have a large storage capacity and the possibility to add additional hard drives if needed. Extended storage is most easily done via eSATA and external hard drive enclosure. They are also customised to take advantage of IP technology, making it easy to connect cameras within the network or other cameras connected to the internet. Flexibility is further extended by using switches and mainly PoE switches. These can transmit both video signal and power the connected IP cameras. The most advanced NVRs are also capable of intelligent video analysis as long as the cameras support it.
